Painting furniture has kept me sane during the past month. I don't have a plan but the furniture informs me, just like making art does. There is something innately satisfying about Paint on-Paint off. Would you like to share any process or routine that gets you through creative dry-patches? We all have them.

More Monotype exploration

Who would have guessed that creating prints could be so exhausting AND exhilarating at the same time?  I had the honor and delight to take a workshop with Inez Storer.  She is a treasure and has such insight.  My day yesterday felt fine but today I was struggling until I peaked at WDF level and then I was able to achieve 4 pieces from one monotype that I really dig, pictures to follow at Danceswithwax.ning.com and studio1045.org.  Wooo-Whooo!

Encaustics are heavily playing into my work these days with a couple of key workshops scheduled, one with Paula Roland and her HOT-BOX in Oakland at Studio 2112  http://web.me.com/rodg/Oakland_Studio/Welcome.html. Later on in San Francisco in September, I'll finally be able to meet up with some new wax friends for the IEA conference http://www.international-encaustic-artists.org/which I'm out-of-body-giddy about.  It's not so bad this getting older thang.  I'm having more fun now than in my 20's, maybe it's because I'm finally embracing the arts within.  Yeah, that's it!
